Y&T to perform only Scandinavian show of 2025 at TIME TO ROCK festival in Sweden

Legendary San Francisco Hard Rockers Y&T has been confirmed as one of the headliners of next year's edition of the TIME TO ROCK festival in Knislinge, Sweden.

The performance will be the only Y&T show in Scandinavia during 2025.

Y&T, originally known as Yesterday & Today, is an American rock band formed in Oakland, California, in 1972. The band was founded by guitarist and lead vocalist Dave Meniketti, along with bassist Phil Kennemore, drummer Leonard Haze, and rhythm guitarist Joey Alves.

Taking their name from the Beatles' 1966 album 'Yesterday and Today', the band quickly established themselves in the local Bay Area rock scene. Y&T's early sound was heavily influenced by the hard rock and heavy metal movements of the 1970s, blending powerful riffs, melodic hooks, and Meniketti's soulful vocals.

They released their self-titled debut album, 'Yesterday & Today', in 1976, followed by 'Struck Down' in 1978. These albums gained them a devoted regional following, but it wasn't until they shortened their name to Y&T and released 'Earthshaker' in 1981 that they began to achieve wider recognition.

The 1980s were the band's most commercially successful period. Albums like 'Black Tiger' (1982), 'Mean Streak' (1983), and 'In Rock We Trust' (1984) solidified Y&T's reputation as a formidable live act, and they became known for their energetic performances.

Their 1985 album 'Down for the Count' featured the hit single "Summertime Girls," which became a staple of 1980s rock radio and MTV.

Despite numerous line-up changes, with Dave Meniketti remaining the consistent driving force, Y&T continued to tour and release music into the 2000s.

Y&T's influence on the hard rock and metal genres is widely recognized, and they are celebrated for their role in shaping the sound of 1980s rock. With a career spanning over five decades, Y&T remains a beloved and enduring presence in the rock music world.
