Statement from the 'Nights With Alice Cooper' radio-show issued on September 6th:
"As you probably know, Nights with Alice Cooper comes to an end this week! BUT Alice wants to continue doing radio/broadcasting and we know he will. So stay tuned, as they say!
The syndication company behind the show was sold, and the new firm didn't take Nights with Alice--during/since Covid, ad sales and rates have been way down. FM radio is rough!
So we--the people behind The Man Behind the Mask--wanted to say THANK YOU to all the fans of the show and the wonderful affiliate stations. It's at once heartbreaking and amazing how sad everyone is to lose this great radio show that means so much to all of us.
I (me, Katherine!) have been the Producer of the show for 17 years, and working with Alice Cooper has been a joy and a blessing! Producer Mike Newman, also here in NYC, and Erik T., in Arizona, who also does all things Alice radio (and more) have been a tight team. And of course, there's Chuck Garric, our man on the road, not to mention Dave Bianchi, the O.G. producer of the show.
Yes, Coop is as cool as he seems on the air.... and probably the hardest-working and most creative person I've ever worked with. So many other people--affiliate relations, salespeople, and more--have worked hard on the show for decades as well. It takes a village.
And of course, we couldn't have done it without Sheryl, Kyler, Toby and Shep, Alice's dream team.
We'll keep you posted here on social media as long as Facebook doesn't kick us off. So, it's not goodbye, it's so long for now because you can't keep a good host down. #rememberthecoop"
'Nights With Alice Cooper', the long-running radio show hosted by Alice Cooper himself, will come to an end this month. The final weekday show will be delivered on Friday, September 8.
'Nights With Alice Cooper' debuted in January of 2004 at 93.3 KDKB Phoenix before moving to sister station Classic Rock 100.7 KSLX following KDKB's 2014 flip to Alternative.
Among the other stations carrying the show are KGGO Des Moines, WMMQ Lansing, KOZZ Reno, WEZX Scranton and KLPX Tucson, in addition to stations in Australia and the United Kingdom.
The decision to end the popular program is reportedly linked to the sale of United Stations Radio Network to GeminiXIII, with new management planning to take the programming in a different direction.
Alice Cooper is not retiring or quitting radio and the decision to end the show was forced by a change in direction by the management of United Stations Radio Network.
